Kids’ playroom gets a makeover

Copy of IMG_3157Kids with cancer deserve a place to take their minds off their illness when they come for treatment.

Now, when they arrive at University Hospital’s pediatric oncology outpatient clinic, they’ll have a kid-friendly playroom with an outdoor camp theme that includes new toys, books and really cool furniture, thanks to the Jaxon’s F.R.O.G (Fully Reliant on God) Foundation.

The foundation is named after 5-year-old Jaxon Davis, who died in 2012 after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Jaxon’s parents presented the University Health System Foundation with a check for $25,000 on April 14 to furnish the existing playroom in honor of their son.

The playroom is located on the tenth floor of University Hospital’s Horizon Tower, in the Pediatric Oncology Outpatient Clinic.

An Open House for the newly renovated South Texas Pediatric Blood and Cancer Center is scheduled for Friday, May 1, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the center, located at University Hospital. For more information, please call (210) 358-2590.
