Best hospital – again

Best hospitalIn case you somehow missed the news last week, University Health System was again ranked among the best by U.S. News & World Report in its 26th Best Hospitals study. We are

  • Best hospital in the San Antonio region for the fifth year in a row
  • Sixth best hospital in Texas
  • Among the 50 best nationwide for the care of patients with kidney disease
  • Nationally high-performing in cancer, gynecology, pulmonology and urology

To put this in perspective, only 137 out of nearly 5,000 U.S. hospitals earned a national Top 50 ranking in any specialty.

As our CEO, George B. Hernández Jr., put it, “the fact we’ve been recognized year after year is because of the people who come to work here each day, ready to provide the best care for our patients, and to treat each patient with dignity and compassion. It is because of you — our outstanding University Health System staff and UT Medicine physician partners.”

If you’re interested in learning more, you can read the details here. And in case you were wondering, the 10 best hospitals in Texas according to U.S. News are:

1. Houston Methodist, Houston

2. St. Luke’s Episcopal, Houston

Even as we celebrate this recognition, we continue our quest to not only move up in these U.S. News rankings, but also achieve our goal to be the premier health system of choice for San Antonio, Bexar County and beyond.
