Save Kids Lives

A message from Dr. Lillian Liao, pediatric trauma and burn director at University Hospital:

Dear team UHS,

I support the #SaveKidsLives campaign to make roads safe for kids. Every day more than 500 children lose their lives in road traffic crashes globally. Tens of thousands more are injured.  #SaveKidsLives asked children all around the world for their thoughts on road safety. They told us how they feel when they travel to school and otherwise use the roads. And they gave clear messages about what protection they need. The world’s experts also came up with actions that must be taken, such as:

  • providing safe routes for children to walk or cycle to school;
  • promoting helmets in countries where kids ride with adults on motorbikes;
  • supporting the correct use of seat-belts and child restraints.

In a joint effort, they wrote the Child Declaration. So how can you help? Well it’s easy. Read the Child Declaration and sign it on the website:! By signing the Child Declaration, you help us to make a call to leaders to put road safety on their agenda, locally and worldwide.
